The Lasalle Street Canyon

In the South Loop. The canyon is made up of the row of famous buildings along South Lasalle Street and ends at the Chicago Board of Trade Building.

  5. Thanks, Jim, Neva, Slim and Sam!

Jim, the wind does whip through the canyon. This street is used often for movies shot on location (The Untouchables, for ex.) and I love taking photos around here...

Hi Slim, and welcome to Chicago, I hope to see you here again soon!

  6. great photo b.c. I have trudged this street many times in the past. I remember how pleasent it can be in the spring but also the road-salted slush and the cold wind whipping through my clothes in the winter.

  8. As a visitor, I can say that the canyon is one of the most awe inspiring sights in the entire city. I wish there was one of those live web cams that showed pictures looking down the canyon. I have an old picture of the view from a nearby office window that looks out upon The Chicago Board of Trade Building. My first guess is that the building this office is in may be somewhere in the canyon, but my sence of direction and even distance from that height is so bad that it could be off in an entirely different direction.
