Istria Cafe

57th and Lake Park Avenue. A very good place to go for coffee, panini, homemade chocolate chili gelato (and other scrumptious flavors), friendly people, and last but not least, free wi-fi!

Movie Shoot

On Chicago Avenue today. Big production trucks blocked most of the view from the street. The actors are on the far left. I don't know who they are or what the movie is about.

Chicago-Style Pizza

Brick Arch

947 W. Lawrence Avenue. This Uptown apartment building's entry would have pleased architect Louis Kahn, (1901-1974) who famously asked, "What do you want, Brick? And the brick's answer was, 'I like an Arch." (Read the complete quote here.)

The Republic

Hayes and 63rd. The Republic (also known as The Golden Lady) is 24 feet high and is a replica of the original 63 foot gold-leaf plated plaster statue that was created for the World Columbian Exposition of 1893. The replica (and the original) was by Daniel Chester French and was dedicated May 11, 1918. (Read more here.)

A Serendipitous Cemetery

I didn't know about theme day until this morning, when I dropped by Fenix's blog (of Boston dp). So I uploaded this photo which I happened to take yesterday, while driving through St. Charles, Illinois. St. Charles is a town about 80 miles west of Chicago.
