Iconic Chicago

Theme day today and the theme is to post a photo of what people imagine when thinking of (your city here). For today, I've chosen a shot from under the elevated train tracks here in the loop. It's not a shot I took today or even yesterday--this was a sunny day two months ago(!) Right now, we're experiencing the biggest snow storm of the season and more than a foot of snow has blanketed the city.

Please go and enjoy the other daily photo cities participating today by clicking on the links below.

  1. Yes, the L would have been my first thought as well. That and maybe the wind. Or the green river on Saint Patrick's and of course the Sears tower ... On a side note. Of all the big towns in the US, Chicago it the one where I feel most a home.

  9. Now that's a choice from a true Chicagoan, the view from a regular joe!

And taken on Wabash, right near two landmarks, the Palmer House and Miller's Pub!

    Good choice.

  10. Any photos from Andersonville? I think of Jazz and Chicago Bears when I hear Chicago. And the Chicago Outfit!

  11. I didn't get around much on Theme Day but I still want to visit and send my regards. Great choice; since I spent some years sowing my wild oats there many moons ago, I agree that the L is a very appropriate choice.

  13. I would agree with you, this really is "Chicago" to me. I've yet to get a good photo of the tracks because I'm down at school but hopefully when I get out and have more time around the city.
