Sister Dreams In Color
My favorite photo from 2008 although I never got to post it and now here it is. This lady was standing on a corner near Michigan Avenue asking for dollars and spare change. It was a cold day in March, and not too many people were out. When I asked if I could take her picture, she exclaimed, "Oh my, it's been ages since anyone's taken my picture!" I loved how her face lit up like that, and how her eyes got all dreamy and wistful, as though remembering that last happy time she'd smiled for a camera. I wish her and all of us a happy 2009!

The sentiment is intersting, with a bit of pathos. Like the tone of the photo as well as the reflection of the woman.

ReplyDeleteThis is 'break my heart' wonderful. I guess that is what Katie means by pathos. I am going to Chicago to see my daughter; she lives in Hyde Park. I am SO eager to be there. Your photos are so much of the anticipation that comes with a goodtrip
