Embrace The F Word

It's my blog's first anniversary. Many many thanks to all the friends I have made during this remarkable year: thank you for inspiring me with your commitment to your own work despite the demands of a busy life; and thank you for all the kind, generous, funny, thoughtful and supportive comments you have left regarding my own work. I have learned so much about my city, about the world, and about people and our ever-changing relationships with 'place'. As a way of saying thank you, I am sharing this street shot taken in NYC and the poem I wrote for it. From the bottom of my photoblogging heart, thank you.

Forget the stones from the river:
their polish is from
the silvered abuse of their
natural born faults;
their secret folds
unfolded by the tumult and
tears this craven river cries
as she searches for
the spring of her own pure soul.
