A Hundred Reasons

Since starting my "daily" photo blog, I have both loved and hated the challenge of constantly discovering ways to present my beloved city. For this momentous post (it's my hundredth) I decided to feature this happy guy I met on Michigan Avenue. With change cup in hand and his big beautiful smile, you gotta love his can-do spirit and his obvious joie de vivre. Heck, if he can be this happy after spending the night in the park, I should find solace in knowing that though there may be even bigger challenges still ahead, there is always a reason to smile. Thanks to everyone who's visited and encouraged me with your lovely comments, your sweet memories of your own Chicago and your willingness to wait yet again for the next slow to come post. A hundred thank yous!

  2. What a remarkable 100th post! Tells about life in the city in a very thoughtful way. This guy's smile is just amazing. But it makes me angry in a way. He deserves a better life.

Congratulations on this 3 month + achievement. We all know about the love/hate relationship to the daily commitment. 100 posts is a huge achievemnt.

  5. Happy 100th! And thank you for posting such great pictures of that wonderful city of yours.

"On State Street that great street
    I just wanna say
They do things they don't do on Broadway
They have a time, the time of their life
I saw a man who danced with his wife..."

    :D

  6. I love these pics. I am a former Chicagoan. I have lived all over the U.S. and Chicago is still my favorite big city.

  9. Congrats on the 100th post. The gentleman’s smile is very infectious.

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog. I know what you mean about it being hard to always post a photo. As for my Raptors, the only consolation that I have is that they are playing better than my Leafs. Congrats again on the 100th post.

  12. I wish I were as happy as that guy! You're right, if he can be happy after spending a night in the park, we should be able to find reason to smile about something.

I hope it doesn't take too many days more than one hundred for you to reach your 200th post. Smile and be happy! Have a great weekend!

  13. Many many thanks Neva, Gerald, Nathalie, Westondaily, R&R, Fenix, Dan, Elian, Abe, Northbay, Denton, Mike and Clueless, for your kind and generous comments! (My friend thanks you too...)

I think I should mention that I began a new job in September. This made blogging and taking photos a little more challenging than before--but not to worry--I'll be here with the dp family for as long as it takes... Clueless (Jim), thank you for expressing the hopes that it doesn't take me overly long to reach my 200th--at this point, all I can do is focus on the posts one at a time, to keep looking around and watching my city, and to have fun while doing it!
