A Quiet Restful Place

It's always nice to find a clean and empty restroom. It had to be empty for me to take its picture anyway. Its nicely lit, too. On Grand and Congress.

No Parking Tickets

This iconic assemblage of rusting metal on wheels sits undisturbed in its spot on Lake Park Avenue except on street cleaning days when its owner (Hi R!) manages to get it to cough up just enough juice to move it to the other side.

Not For Sale

Just a small detail on the maintenance shed of the William H. Ray Elementary School on Kimbark Avenue. It shows several panels depicting unique and fabulous creatures (like this dragon) all done by the students.

Well now, we must feed the body, shouldn't we? The dessert counter at Food Life.

Storks at Play

My favorite detail of the fountain "Storks at Play" in the Lincoln Park Zoo by Augustus Saint-Gaudens (installed in 1887).

Stare Down With a Noble Horse

The Noble Horse Carriage Stand at Michigan Avenue and Pearson Street. This gentle member of the brigade draws someone into a horse whispering session while the seasoned carriage drivers watch sagely from their perches.
Rides are $35 for a half hour clomp through the downtown side streets and back to their stand.

Cloud Gate

Cloud Gate by Anish Kapoor. Millennium Park, Chicago. I took this photo in February when the skies were just clearing after a small snow fall. "The Bean" as we call it here, is one of my favorite photo subjecs. Actually it's just about everyone's favorite as all the photos turn out interesting. I liked the way the clouds were captured by the steel here, but can't really be seen too well in the sky.

For Your Convenience

Just some evidence of the realities of the city. Actually, I wanted to take a photo of the woman who just came out of this store, she was in her bra but it wasn't a swimsuit kind, it was like, her underwear. But this is the kind of neighborhood where you just don't mess with folks by taking their picture. So, I pointed the camera at the sign instead.

Light and Dark

The houses in this south side neighborhood are old and often beautifully restored. I like the stark lines of this house against the sky. The hedge in front of the house and the windows sort of make it look a bit like the house is watching you.

Prom Night

Hello. This is my first post. I did my best paparazzi act on these teenaged neighbors of mine, except I was too shy to stick a camera in their face or yell, "HEYYY! Over here! How 'bout a smile!" So I took this from my front porch.
